This time we feel that our traditions need support, not modernization. Katimō Tablewear special collection puts this idea into effect.

This launch builds around the artifacts of Ukrainian arts and crafts. We’ve been collecting handmade napkins from all over Ukraine for a few months. Warm emotions, tenderness, and achingly inspiring personal stories of the craftswomen are woven into these unique crochet ornaments. The homespun hemp cloth, which was sourced from a collector from the Zakarpattia region, is over 100 years old. It could take a year for a woman to make this type of cloth, with each stage having its sacral meaning. Given this, it would be no exaggeration to call the homespun cloth a relic. Katimō aspires to uphold such aesthetical customs, to delicately pass them on from hand to hand, directly to you.

Consequently, we have used the napkins as intact and self-sufficient decorative elements. The clothing line includes a skirt, trousers, a t-shirt, and a dress, which are hand-embellished with crochet napkins. The meticulous work, based on the principles of national art, upcycling, and haute couture, results in the centerpiece of our collection — a dress, which is made entirely of napkins.

The robust homespun cloth incarnates in a tablecloth, napkins, and table runners, decorated with embroidery of Kateryna’s Bilokur artwork motifs. The images of mallows, dill, berries, and other treasures from the Ukrainian garden are splattered onto the ceramic dishes, made and painted by hand in Kyiv.

Katimō Tablewear embraces and cherishes sincere beauty, for it is an integral part of our common DNA. It is our tradition to be sensitive, to find wonders in simple things, and to create such things with our own hands. Every time you look at the pieces of art, created by artists among us, you strengthen these traditions. Every interaction with them brings strength to you. Katimō Tablewear line is a part of this interchange; it is a piece of a whole story, which can be touched and would feel native to the touch.

Day after day we long for beauty, for the omnipresent tradition of Ukrainian aesthetic, rediscovering it over and over.
